Union Government Bans High-Dose Nimesulide Oral Medicines Due to Liver Damage Risk

Nimesulide Banned New Delhi, 3112 (Agency): The Union government has banned the manufacture and sale of all oral medicines containing Nimesulide, a medicine used to treat fever and body aches, in doses exceeding 100 milligrams. According to the Health Ministry, Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It is used to relieve pain (painkiller). However, its high doses cause liver damage. This restriction will apply only to Nimesulide with a dose exceeding 100 milligrams. Medicines with a dose of less than 100 milligrams will remain available. The drug company that manufactured the brand Nimesulide will now have to stop producing higher doses of this medicine. In addition, the medicine already available in the market will be recalled. Medicines sold in the Nimesulide formula include Nimlid, Nice, Nisipi, Nimshed, Nimesh, Nimulide-P, Nice Plus, Nisipi Plus, Zinnaline Amti etc. The government has said that safer alternative medicines are available in the market compared to the banned dose. 46 Terrorists Killed in 2025 Srinagar, 31/12 (Agency): In the year 2025, there were 35 face-to-face encounters between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
