Two Youths Die in Tragic Bus Accident in Athagarh; Locals Block Roads Demanding Compensation

Two youths die in bus accident, demand compensation, block roads Athagarh, 31/12 (Apr): Two youths died in a tragic road accident at Rathgada Chhak in Athagarh. The accident took place at around 10 am on Wednesday. The two deceased youths are Ram Naik (38), son of Harijan Sahir Basant Naik of Ward No. 4 of Athagarh Notified Area Council, and Tapas Kumar Naik, son of late Achyutanand Naik of Muradarshi Patna under Cuttack Malgodam police station. On receiving the news, the locals had worked on the road at Medical Chowk. Demanding compensation for the families of the deceased, people burnt tyres and blocked the road. As a result, hundreds of vehicles were stopped on both sides of the road. After reaching an agreement with the administration, the road was cleared around 3 pm. According to the information, Tabak, Ram and Tapas were on a bike (OD-05-CE-9872) on the old Cuttack-Sambalpur road towards Sapua river. At that time, both of them fell under the wheels of a domestic passenger bus (OD-05-AH-9941) coming from the opposite direction. The bus rolled over both of them. Both of them died on the spot. On receiving the information, the Athagarh police reached the spot, seized the bike and the bus, registered a case and started investigation into the incident. The bodies of both of them were handed over to the family after being dissected at the Athagarh Subdistrict Hospital.
