Skeleton Found Hanging in Cuttack's Shikharpur, Police Investigate Unnatural Death
Hanging skeleton rescued Cuttack, 31.12 (Bureau): A skeleton hanging from a tree near the old oil depot in Shikharpur has been found. The police of the Malgodam police station have recovered the skeleton hanging from the tree after receiving information. The police have registered a case of unnatural death in this incident and sent the SCB medical for autopsy. The skeleton has been identified as that of a man. Police sources said that the skeleton hanging from the tree has been identified as the deceased who had been missing for a long time. It is believed that two to three months ago, some unknown person had hung himself from a tree 50 feet away from the oil tanker rail at the old oil depot in Shikharpur. The body was dragged for a long time as there was no space for people to move around the scene. The flesh was torn off and some of the flesh had been hanging there for a long time. Someone saw this and informed the police at the Aji Malgodam police station. After receiving the information, the police reached the spot and seized the skeleton. However, it is difficult to identify the body as there was no face or any evidence from the spot. Police said that only the dead body's slippers were found from the spot. Elephants destroy cucumber crop Tigiriya, 31/12 (Apr): Two elephants have destroyed the cucumber crop of Bhaskar Jena (50) of Mundiasahi village of Achalkot under Tigiriya block. He alleged that although he had informed the local forest department about this, no forest official had reached the spot to assess the damage. Bhaskar, a resident of Mundia Shahir in Achalkot, had cultivated cucumbers on five acres of land at a cost of around Rs 12,000. On Sunday and Monday night, two elephants entered his tusks and ate the cucumbers, destroying the crops. Bhaskar alleged that although he had informed the local forest official about this, no forest official had assessed the damage. Earlier, two elephants were roaming in the area, but five more elephants arrived on Wednesday, said Raskar. The villagers have alleged that elephants are entering Hatipal village and destroying crops due to the lack of proper patrolling by the forest department. The villagers have demanded that the forest department assess Raskar's damage and provide him with appropriate compensation.
