Nandankanan Zoo Attracts Over 24,000 Tourists on Year's Last Day; Sloth Bear Rescued

24 thousand tourists visited Nandankanan on the last day of the year Barang, 3112 (Apr): Wednesday was the last day of the year 2025. On this occasion, a total of 24 thousand 223 tourists visited Nandankanan. Of them, 23,800 tourists visited the zoo, while 1143 tourists visited the state botanical garden. The number of tourists from the state and outside the state increased in the zoo. Starting from the parking lot, a crowd of tourists was seen near the ticket counter and the entrance gate. There was a crowd of tourists in the zoo's tigers, bears, elephants, lions, giraffes, reptiles, monkeys and other animals. Meanwhile, the tourists had a lot of fun sitting on the children's garden. Tourists were happy to see the newly opened enclosures of small cats, shaliyapatni, daliodh enclosure, native bears, sloth bear enclosure, and elephants in the water fountain. Tourists were especially crowded in front of the enclosures to see the water flow that came after 25 years. For the safety of tourists, medical rescue sloth bear came to Nandankanan and doctors kept an eye on it. Wednesday Special Barang, 31/12 (Apr): A sloth bear was rescued from Bhubaneswar City Division. City Forest Division staff came to Nandankanan Zoo after receiving information from sources. The sloth bear was rescued from Bhubaneswar Dumduma Raghunathnagar where the bear was treated at the zoo's hospital. The bear has been kept in quarantine for treatment. However, the bear was released to the Nandankanan Zoological Park and is healthy, an official said. The team, volunteers, OISF team, Nandankanan security personnel, ex-servicemen along with the local police were on the alert. Last year, as of today, 29,126 tourists visited the zoo and 1,015 tourists visited the botanical garden.
